Front Porch Poetry
Issue 1.0
Charles Wright and Heather McHugh
don’t need introductions, but you might find some facts about our
correspondences with them interesting. We sent each poet an email,
asking for a poem to accompany the audio
files of their readings. McHugh shot us an email with her poem,
“Creature Pressure,” embedded in it. When we didn’t hear from Wright
via email, we attempted to reach him the old-fashioned way: We wrote
him a letter. Wright’s poem, section “18” of a longer work in progress,
came in an envelope. We scanned it for you, as is, cross-outs and
all. Hope you enjoy our first issue. We’ll be back in the spring
with poems by C.D. Wright, Forrest Gander,
Eleanor Wilner, and some wonderful emerging writers.
